Why Give to The College of The Bahamas

Every Gift Helps to Build Lives and a Better Future

Investing in education is investing in a better future. Every gift, no matter the size, no matter whether it's for scholarships, endowments, buildings or equipment, can make a positive impact on the lives of students and faculty. Those who benefit from your gifts are then better able to give in their turn. With enhanced knowledge and skills, they are positioned to contribute to the betterment of our institution, our community, nation and our world. Since 1975, The College of The Bahamas alumni have been making contributions to society in leadership positions at home and as scholars abroad.

You can make a difference! Our expanding enrollment requires new faculty, classes, buildings and student scholarships. Your support can help ensure a new generation will be prepared to lead.

Ways of Giving

There are many ways you can give to The College of The Bahamas Listed below are several options.

Cheques: Make your cheque payable to: The College of The Bahamas.  Please note that your gift is for general purpose, for a scholarship endowment, or for another purpose. Mail your check to: The College of The Bahamas, P.O. Box N-4912, Nassau, The Bahamas.

Electronic Funds Transfer: Electronic funds transfer is an easy way to support The College of The Bahamas. You decide the amount of your monthly contribution, then send the necessary authorization to The College of The Bahamas. It will permit us to notify your bank to withdraw the specified amount from your account every month and forward it to The College's account.

Employee Automatic Pay Withdrawal: Employees of The College of The Bahamas may request automatic payroll deductions.  You will need to give your authorization in writing to the Human Resources Department including your name, amount of deduction per paycheck, purpose for gift, and date of first withdrawal. Kindly notify the Development Officer of your desire to give.

Gift Annuities: A gift annuity makes it possible to give to The College of The Bahamas while guaranteeing income for life for yourself and/or someone you designate.  Talk to our Development Officer about this option: Felicity Humblestone, Development Officer, The College of The Bahamas, (242) 302-4356 or e-mail fhumblestone@cob.edu.bs.

Scholarship Support: A wonderful way to honor a friend, a loved one, or a faculty member is by establishing a scholarship in his/her name. In the case of an annual scholarship, the entire amount is awarded in the academic year following the year the gift is made. Once the funds are expended, the scholarship ceases to exist. The scholarship carries the name of the person you wish to honor. A minimum gift of $1,000 is required to establish an annual scholarship.

If you want to establish a gift that lasts, consider an endowed scholarship.  An endowed scholarship named in honor of a loved one, friend or professor, provides a return on your investment and is awarded annually for life. To ensure sufficient scholarship levels, a minimum of $10,000 is required to establish a named endowed scholarship. Or you may add to our established Alumni Association Scholarship Endowment Fund with a gift of any amount.

Including The College of The Bahamas in Your Will: Estate gifts are the ultimate expression of your support for the mission and work of The College of The Bahamas. If you are planning your estate, please let us know.
