About the Library | | | The Law Library supports the mission of The College of The Bahamas by developing its collection and by providing services to support outstanding teaching and research endeavours. The library, which is primarily reference, started in September 2000 on inception of the UWI/COB LL.B Program at The College of The Bahamas.
The growing library collection of about 20,000 volumes is comprised of legislation, law reports, unreported judgments, journals and textbooks of Commonwealth Caribbean, Anglo American and Commonwealth jurisdictions in both print and electronic formats.
Location The Law Library is located on the ground floor of the main building in the Bahamas Tourism Training Centre on Thompson Boulevard, Nassau.
Access The Law Library is open to all members of The College of The Bahamas community; however, priority is given to students and faculty of the LL.B Programme. To gain access to the library and for borrowing privileges validated College of The Bahamas identification cards are required and must be presented at the Circulation desk.
Members of the public may use the general and reference collections at the library under the Public Borrowers Policy.
Catalogue The library's online catalogue - COBWEB provides access to all materials in the library. COBWEB can be accessed remotely from the library's web page or at >http://www.cobweb.info.bs. You can also find information on new acquisitions, services and resources on COBWEB (check out the >Library Help page for tips).
Classification System The materials in the library are classified using the Elizabeth Moys Classification Scheme for Legal Materials and the Library of Congress Classification Scheme.
Circulation of Materials All patrons must be registered in the circulation system before checking out materials. The College of The Bahamas identification card must be presented at all times.
The library provides unrestricted access to a circulating collection of open shelf materials. Access is restricted for some materials within the collection. The loan periods are as follows:
Circulating Book Collection
2 Books 7 Days (Students) 3 Books 7 Days (Faculty)
Reserve and Article Collections
Items from the Reserve and Article Collections may be used 2 at a time for 2-hour periods. Only books and articles with multiple copies in the Reserve collection will be released for overnight loans. Request for overnight loans will be on a first come, first served basis. Please note that overnight loans will only be checked out at the following times:

Materials in this collection can be used in the Library, 2 items at a time for 2-hour periods; or they may be checked out at the following times for overnight loan:
