Independence Park came alive with vibrant colour, a cornucopia of native dishes and festival of music for the 6th Annual Foreign Languages Day, a celebration of the diversity of French, Spanish and Creole cultures.

Held on March 18th, the annual festival was hosted by the School of Communication & Creative Arts' Foreign Languages department.

Talented students kept the crowds entertained by performing poems, songs and native dances of the Spanish, French and Creole cultures. Faculty members also participated, including Dr. Irene Moss, who skillfully played the accordion.

The highlight of this year's programme was Cuban singer and dancer Julie, who wowed the crowd with her rhythmic movements and sassy Cuban salsa. And as the Master of ceremonies, Mr. Crestwill Farah, a psychology major, kept everyone charmed with his witty banter and bilingual abilities.

A key feature of the festival, mouth-watering native dishes were on display from Latin and Southern America countries, including Guatemala, Peru and Cuba.

Also, in a display of solidarity with and support for the people of Haiti who are still recovering from the devastating effects of a deadly earthquake, students and faculty wore "Creole We Are" T-shirts.

For both performers and spectators, it was another opportunity to learn more about foreign cultures while sharing in a special fellowship.
