In a tangible display of support for student learning and research, the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise recently made a generous donation of $55,000 worth of learning aids, audio visual and digital equipment to the College of The Bahamas Hilda Bowen Nursing and Health Sciences Library.

The library, located at The College's Grosvenor Close Campus, is used primarily by students enrolled in the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions.

"The Rotary Club thought it would be appropriate to make a donation which focuses on nursing education because of its importance to the overall health and well-being of all Bahamians," explained Mr. Felix Stubbs, Assistant District Governor for Rotary in The Bahamas.

The items donated included laptop computers, digital cameras, DVD portable players and various instructional DVDs on Physical Examinations, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Maternity and Pediatrics, Psychiatric Mental Health and Electrocardiography.

It was a warmly welcomed gift as access to information and expanding knowledge are integral to the mission of The College.

"The donation from the Rotary enables the library to bolster its support to the Nursing School through access to 'cutting edge' resources that will ensure that students in the nursing and allied health programmes are equipped to dispense a high level of health care services to the community when they leave The College of The Bahamas," explained Ms. Willamae, College Librarian, Libraries and Instructional Media Services at The College.

Additionally, securing the license for the DVD resources allows the content to be shared via The College's Virtual Library, enabling health care professionals in New Providence and the Family Islands to access the information online.
