CHMI student Delino Moss is on the fast track to accelerated training in hotel managerial operations after being awarded a coveted scholarship to participate in the Sandals Resort International Manager Trainee Programme.

Delino, pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Tourism Management, will be comprehensively trained in all aspects of hotel operations over the next two years, allowing him to travel throughout the Caribbean region and work at various resorts owned and operated by the Sandals chain.

He is one of four Bahamians, all Sandals employees, and 20 recipients in total who received the scholarships. Sandals International operates 21 Sandals and Beaches properties in the Caribbean region and uses the properties as training sites for the Manager Trainee Programme.

Assistant Professor, Tourism, Dr. Sophia Rolle, who is Delino's academic programme advisor, was among the first to congratulate him on the splendid achievement. She also commended his leadership.

"I am very proud if his continuous achievements, dedication and passion for the industry. It's a fine example of what graduates with the Bachelor of Science Degree in Tourism Management achieve once they have matriculated the programme," said Dr. Rolle. "Delino joins a growing list of our Tourism Management graduates who are key decision makers and are presently in management positions with their respective entities in the Hospitality and Tourism industries."

Delino was delighted to receive the scholarship. "I feel awesome, truly. I am very proud to take this as an opportunity to contribute to Sandals, the industry and the county."

Delino will graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Tourism Management from the Culinary and Hospitality Management Institute in May, 2012.
