On Monday, October 6th, 2008, The College of The Bahamas and the US Embassy partnered to present a lecture on the forthcoming American election that is arousing so much interest here in The Bahamas and throughout the rest of the Caribbean.

As part of its outreach initiative to engage members of the community on a number of different levels, The College was delighted to join with the embassy in bringing to Nassau Gary Nordlinger, a political and public affairs consultant and expert on political strategy, to present the lecture.

The evening, held at the Grosvenor Close Campus Lecture Theatre, was a resounding success with Mr Nordlinger first engaging his audience with his breadth of knowledge on US party politics and its political system and then informatively and clearly answering the many questions that were raised in the second part of the proceedings.

Canon Kirkley Sands, Chair of the School of Social Sciences at The College, moderated the evening, skillfully ensuring those with questions were able to have their say, and Mr Timothy Zuniga-Brown, US Charge d'Affaires, introduced the guest lecturer.

Mr Paul Jukic from the Political/Economic Section at the embassy, expressed his thanks to The College for its assistance in facilitating the evening saying, "Our thanks go out to the entire COB staff and community who made this event possible, and ensured such a lively exchange. I got the distinct impression Mr. Nordlinger could have gone on for quite some time more, to his and the audience's pleasure!" .

The Nassau lecture was the third in Mr Nordlinger's tour of the region, following on from similar presentations he made in Trinidad and Jamaica earlier in the month.
