Failure is not an option for The College of The Bahamas, its new president of the College community, Anglican Bishop Laish Z. Boyd declared during a special service held on Wednesday, April 6th to mark the Investiture of College President Dr. Betsy V. Boze.
It was an uplifting message that struck the right note with the congregation comprised of students, faculty and staff members and friends and supporters of The College.

"We cannot afford for COB to fail. We have come too far. We have accomplished too much already. Too many people have given too much already. So, the new President cannot fail," said Bishop Boyd, a Government High School graduate and former student of the late Dr. Keva M. Bethel, the first President of The College.
"The existing administration cannot fail. The teaching staff cannot fail.
The other staff cannot fail. We have come too far and there is too much work left to do in this young, growing nation of ours. Let us work together. If any one part fails we all fail."
Bishop Boyd encouraged employees of The College to work together, rather than against each one another. He also affirmed the need for every person to secure their identity by discovering God's purpose and plan, while lauding the institution's growth and successes over the years.
Marking a new era in leadership and authority at The College of The Bahamas, the Investiture of Dr. Betsy V. Boze as President was held on Thursday, April 7th. She was formally vested with the authority of the Office of President, symbolized through the conferral of The College's chain and medallion and received the College mace, a symbol of the continuing authority of President.
Dr. Boze is experienced in multi-campus university environments and is an exceptional tertiary education leader. She was appointed President of The College of The Bahamas effective January 1st, 2011.
During the Investiture Service, the first of several event The College is hosting this week to celebrate a new chapter in its history, Bishop Boyd was hopeful about The College's continued national impact and the special role of visionary leadership.
To President Boze he said, "As The College invests its new President, we wish you well, Madame. You set out on a new journey for which you require grace and keen insight; and the College enters a new chapter for which it requires agility, adaptability and creativity. It is a pregnant time, a time of hope, expectation and visioneering. It is a time when the traveler needs new grace, new vigor, and new direction. That is what we pray for you, Madame and for our beloved COB."
