Fall 2010 Classes Resume for Northern Bahamas Campus (NBC) at West Settler's Way
New campus weeks away from completion
August 2010

The College of The Bahamas' New Student Orientation for the Fall 2010 semester began on Wednesday, August 18th at The West Settler's Way location with classes scheduled to start on Monday, August 23rd.

A few weeks from completion, at an approximate cost of $8.8 million dollars, Phase II of the new campus will house a two-storey facility encompassing 40,000 square feet of usable space for teaching, studying and administrative offices built around a scenic central courtyard.

Relocation to the new site should be completed by end of December with classes being held in the new location for the Spring 2011 semester.

"We are excited about the new school year and are pleased with the progress of Phase II of the new NBC campus. This new facility will further enhance The College of The Bahamas' ability provide a state-of-the-art educational facility and further drive development of East Grand Bahama," said College of The Bahamas Associate Vice President of the Northern Bahamas Campus, Dr. Kelly Duncanson.

The location for the new Northern Bahamas Campus was chosen with the long-term view in mind of a "college town" that will grow as The College expands its campus with prime opportunities for business investment and entrepreneurship.

In addition, under the combined leadership of Dean of Pure and Applied Sciences, Dr. Brenda Cleare and Dr. Kelly Duncanson, strategic planning is underway for the introduction of a baccalaureate programme in maritime studies at the NBC location.
