The elegant and sophisticated seventh annual Legacy Ball was the setting for the presentation of the Sir Lynden Pindling Foundation's gift of $300,000 to The College of The Bahamas. This sum is the result of fund raising begun seven years ago, and is allocated to support the Harry C. Moore Library at The College of The Bahamas. Benefactors to the Lyford Cay Foundation, College faculty and staff and other loyal donors have generously supported the Library project over the years and the Sir Lynden Pindling Foundation joins this donor group with this great contribution. The College is delighted to be the prime beneficiary of the foundation's generosity aimed at honouring Sir Lynden and supporting the vision to create the University of The Bahamas, a vision he wholeheartedly supported .

Monique Pindling-Johnson, co-Chairperson of the Sir Lynden Pindling Foundation, said, "We at the foundation are very pleased to make this donation to The College and are especially happy that my father's achievements will be remembered in the new library. We made a pledge to President Hodder that we would give $300,000 this year and now we are determined to raise another $200,000 to ensure the Lynden Pindling room in the library will be built."

The new Harry C. Moore Library is now under construction on the corner of Tucker Road and Thompson Boulevard. Plans for the new library do, indeed, include the creation of a dedicated section within the archives, commemorating the impact and legacy of Sir Lynden with documents, special collections and memorabilia illustrating his life.

College Librarian, Willamae Johnson, was delighted with the donation saying, "Our new library will be more than a university library; it will be a community library that will serve the information needs of the nation. As such, it will be accessible to all and we are very grateful to the Sir Lynden Pindling Foundation for this donation."
