What has changed in Registration?
The College of The Bahamas has implemented a new registration policy effective for the Spring 2009 registration period, i.e., November 17th, 2008. You are now allowed to reserve courses online for a maximum of seven days before confirming these courses.
How do I reserve courses?

Courses are confirmed once payment has been received by the Business Office. Payment can be in the form of cash, bank certified cheque, Visa, MasterCard or Suncard or arrangements can be made with the Business Office for Deferred Payment - click here for information on Paying for It All.
Am I allowed to add or drop a course after I have reserved my courses?
Yes, students are allowed to add or drop courses after they have been reserved if space is available in the desired section. You will have 7 days to confirm the newly added courses. Prior to late registration, you must use IQWeb to add and drop courses.
If I don't confirm my classes, will I be able to reserve my classes again?
Yes, you will be able to reserve classes again, but only when your registration group is active.
Can I add or drop a course after I've confirmed my courses?
Yes, you will be allowed to add or drop courses after confirming your courses. Please note that you must confirm your changes to the Business Office otherwise IQWeb will automatically deregister you after seven days for non-payment. Prior to late registration, you must use IQWeb to add and drop courses.
How does this change benefit students?
You will benefit from this new registration policy because it increases the likelihood of you getting into your desired courses by ensuring that:
- Each section is full.
- Spaces will be available in sections throughout the registration period.
- The chances of a section being canceled due to low enrolment is reduced.
How does this change benefit the College?
The College benefits when it is able to maximize class enrolment and Schools can open new sections based on true demand.
Will there be a late registration?
Yes, late registration for the spring 2009 semester will be held on January 8th and 9th, 2009. Late Registration will only be available manually in the Records Department.
What happens if the Registration period ends before my 7 days are up?
According to Section 7.3 of the Registration Policy if the end of the registration period is reached, all unconfirmed reservations will be cancelled. Cancellation at this time supersedes the advertised reservation duration.
What happens if I am unable to register online?
Students that are unable to register online should ensure that:
- you have been authorized by your advisor,
- you are enrolled in the correct programme,
- your registration group is active.

What is PowerCampus?
PowerCampus is the name of the software that the College uses to manage student information. Technically it is the student information management software.
What is IQ.Web?
IQ.Web is the Web-based software that students and faculty use to register online. IQ.Web is also used by your advisor to authorize your registration upon completion of the advisement step. IQ.Web communicates with PowerCampus to update your student record.
Can I view the class schedule online?
Yes, click here and choose the schedule you wish to view from the menu on the right of the page.
When will registration begin?

What should I do if I do not want to register online?
Registration is only available using the online format. You can use any computer that is connected to the Internet to register for your COB courses.
Can I register online from home?
Yes, beginning with Summer 2008 registration you can register online using any computer that is connected to the Internet.
Which computer laboratories on campus are available for students to use for online?
All. Teaching computer labs may be open so that you can use them for registration when they are not being used for a scheduled class. Non-instructional labs will be open as usual. Where can I obtain a COB username and password?

Please note that, for security reasons, your username and password will not be issued over the telephone or by email. You must show your valid COB Student ID to collect your username and password.
Who will be using online registration?
Online registration will be used by ALL current students registering for any course beginning with the Summer 2008 semester. New students will register using the manual process.
This practice, common to many universities and colleges, is designed to ensure that seniors are able to register for courses that they need to graduate.
Curriculum (Major)
Why is curriculum being used instead of Major?
While we are used to referring to 'Majors' PowerCampus uses the term 'curriculum' to define what we know as Majors. The use of both terms in the these online registration documents allow all users to appreciate that the different terms refer to the same data.
Why must my Major be correct in PowerCampus?
Prior to students registering online they must be advised by their assigned advisor. Every student is assigned an advisor depending on their major. If your major is incorrect, you may be assigned an advisor from the wrong school.
How can I check to see if my Major is correct?
To determine if your major is listed correctly in PowerCampus:
Look at the upper left hand corner of your transcript (below your name) to see a listing of your Programme/Degree/Curriculum as stored in PowerCampus. Check this list against the Curriculum List. Click here to download a copy of the Curriculum List.
What should I do if my Major is incorrect?
Visit your school's main office to obtain a Programme Change Form. Complete this form and return it to your school's office. The school will submit the form to the Records department for processing. Click here for a list of school and office locations.
Advisement
How do I find out who is my advisor?
Your school will be able to provide this information. Contact the School's main office. Click here for a list of school and office locations.
What should I do if I don't have an advisor?
Visit your school's main office to have them assign an Advisor. Click here for a list of school and office locations.
Do I need an Advisor for online registration?
Yes, the IQweb software will not allow you to register if you have not been authorized by your assigned advisor.
What if I can't find my advisor?
Look for them during office hours or check the school's main office to ask for help. Click here for a list of school and office locations.
Do I need my advisor to approve my courses after I have registered for them?
No, once you have been authorized by your advisor you can proceed with your registration as defined by the registration schedule.
Registration Groups
Do I count my Spring semester courses as earned credits for the Registration Groupings?
No, only courses completed up to Fall 2007 are counted in the Registration groups.
What should I do if I miss my designated registration day?
Due to the fact that we are trying to manage the size of every registration group, the system will not allow you to register again until every registration group has been completed. You must wait until your group opens again. To check the registration group schedule click Here.
How do I know if I'm in the correct registration group?
- Do you have Transfer Credits?
- The number of earned credits plus the number of transfer credits is equal to your registration group credits.
- Do you have an Associate Degree?
- The number of credits applied from your Associate Degree will be added to the number of credits earned in your Baccalaureate Degree for a total number of credits earned.
- Are you in the Diploma in Education Programme?
- Due to the fact that you are required to have a Baccalaureate Degree to enter this programme, we consider you a senior. You will register with the senior group based on the number of credits earned in the Diploma programme.
- None of the above?
- Use the number of earned credits as shown on your transcript
What should you do if you are in the wrong registration group?
Students that find themselves in the wrong registration group should take their signed course request form to the Records Department for processing.

How do I know if I have a financial or medical hold?
PowerCampus will not allow you to register if you have a financial or medical hold. You can log on to IQ.Web at anytime to determine if you have a hold. Do not wait until your registration day to learn that you have a hold.

If you have a Financial hold please go to the Business Office cashier's window with your ID card to determine what steps are required to lift the hold. These steps vary based on the situation so it is not practical to attempt to outline them in this document.

What should I do if I have a medical hold?
If you have a 'medical hold' please go to the Campus Health Clinic located in the Portia Smith Student Services Centre to determine what steps are required to lift the hold. These steps vary based on the situation so it is not practical to attempt to outline them in this document.
You can log on to IQ.Web at anytime to determine if you have a hold. Do not wait until your registration day to learn that you have a hold.
How do I know if I have a library hold?
A list of all students on 'library hold' is posted on the notice board outside the library and on other notice boards around campus.

If you have a 'library hold' please go to the library to determine what steps are required to lift the hold. These steps vary based on the situation so it is not practical to attempt to outline them in this document.
How do I know if I have an academic hold?
PowerCampus will not allow you to register if you have a academic hold. You can log on to IQ.Web at anytime to determine if you have a hold. Do not wait until your registration day to learn that you have a hold.
What should I do if I have an academic hold?
If you have an 'academic hold' please go to the dean responsible for your school to determine what steps are required to lift the hold. These steps vary based on the situation so it is not practical to attempt to outline them in this document.
Do I still have to fill out a course selection form?
Yes. Students are to retain one copy of the 3-ply Course Request Form to key in their courses themselves, the final two copies are to be left with your advisor.
How do I know if a class is being held in Nassau, Freeport or some other location?
The section number indicates the island location of the course.

The Waitlist Process
What is the waitlist process?
When a section is full you can sign up to be placed on a waiting list for the section for which you attempted to register. PowerCampus calls this a waitlist. What happens if a class is full?
You will have the option of joining the waitlist or you can choose a different class/section.
Where can I go for normal registration?
Registration is only available using the online format. You can use any computer that is connected to the Internet to register for your COB courses.
