Stanley Wilson Award for Excellence in Research Call for Submissions for The College of The Bahamas
- In June, 2003, during his remarks at the Commencement Exercises of The College of The Bahamas, the then Council Chairman, Mr. Franklyn R. Wilson, CMG, announced the establishment of an endowment fund, the expressed purpose of which was to facilitate the implementation of an Award for Excellence in Research.
- The Stanley Wilson Award for Excellence in Research 2011 will be presented at the Spring 2011 Commencement Exercises. The College is now seeking submissions for consideration. Evaluation of submissions for the Award will focus on identifying those which best meet the criteria listed under Item 3 below.
- Criteria for Assessment of Research
The criteria for the Award reflect the overarching goals of the current strategic plan of The College of The Bahamas. The research must enhance the reputation of The College of The Bahamas as an institution of excellence. The work should make a significant contribution to international as well as Bahamian research literature, support national or curriculum development, and should involve collaboration.
- Eligibility for Award
Submissions must meet the following criteria:
4.1 the research must have been conducted while at least one of the authors was a full-time or part-time faculty member of The College of The Bahamas;
4.2 the research must have been published (including e-published, or accepted for publication) in a peer-reviewed or academic publication since 12th March 2010;
4.3 research undertaken by faculty in partial fulfillment of an academic programme will not be eligible;
4.4 research involving The College of The Bahamas students and directed by faculty will be eligible only if the faculty member is a senior author to any student authors;
4.5 a copy of the submitted article must be lodged with The College of The Bahamas library system;
4.6 submissions must be received by the Office of Research, Graduate Programmes and International Relations no later than 4:00 p.m. on the 11th March 2011; and
4.7 submissions must include all information noted in Item 5 below.
- Submissions
Each submission must include:
5.1 a completed application form (available from the Office of Research, Graduate Programmes & International Relations and via The College's web site at www.cob.edu.bs and appropriate supporting documents; and
5.2 a copy of the publication (or the accepted draft with the publisher's/editor's letter of acceptance for publication).
