The College of The Bahamas will host a Violence Research Symposium on Thursday, November 3rd 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Performing Arts Centre of The College's Oakes Field Campus.
Faculty of The College of The Bahamas have collaborated across a broad spectrum of academic disciplines to research factors and trends that impact violence in country. The findings from these studies are timely, as The Bahamas remains challenged in confronting an unprecedented level of crime and violence. It is anticipated that the research findings will contribute to national development by allowing for informed debate on issues surrounding crime.
The College of The Bahamas is pleased to have members from one of its international partners, the University of the Highlands and the Islands, Scotland, to participate in the symposium.
The presentations will cover topics relating to: restorative justice; gun ownership; prison inmates; public displays of violence; the media coverage of violence; and the effects of violence on children.
