Update: September 2010
Construction of the new Harry C. Moore Library & Information Centre remains at a robust pace. The facility's exterior has undergone a substantial transformation, making it a uniformed part of The College's physical plant. The capital project is scheduled to be substantially completed in October and then work will begin on the access road, parking facility, landscaping and lighting. The installation of furniture, fixtures and equipment will also commence in October. The anticipated opening of the new library is Spring 2011.
Update: November 2009
The Carl G. Treco Construction company has made significant headway on the new Harry C. Moore Library and Information Centre being constructed at the intersection of Tucker Road and Thompson Boulevard on The College's main campus, Oakes Field. Workmen have nearly completed the structural work on the new library with the installation of the roof sheeting also nearing completion. Sub-contractors are on site working to install electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning and fire suppression systems and the contractor is preparing submissions for the selection of interior finishes. The projected completion date is September, 2010. At a construction cost of approximately $28 million, the library will be named after the former chairman of the Lyford Cay Foundation, former COB council member and philanthropist, the late Harry C. Moore. It will house support offices, a small auditorium, classrooms, media production studio, individual and group study spaces, institutional archives and exhibition spaces.
