Donor Supported Student Awards Established
at The College of The Bahamas

The President's Scholars Programme Scholarship. Established in 2006, the President's Scholars Programme (PSP) is The College's unique four-year scholarship and personal development initiative, its participants selected from among incoming first-year students. The Programme seeks out outstanding students with a wide range of beliefs, ideals and talents, who are encouraged to work and learn together to foster their intellectual growth, refine their leadership skills and enhance their relationship with The College. The Programme is based on merit. Those who apply for a scholarship must have a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA or above (on 4.0 scale), demonstrate leadership potential, meet all applicable requirements for admission to The College and submit to an interview with the PSP Selection Committee. Estimated Value: $6,000, renewable.

The Basil H. Johnson Scholarship. Established in 2006, in support of a new student entering the BA in English programme. Donated by the Johnson family and awarded by the School of English Studies based on academic merit criteria. Estimated value, $5,000, renewable.

The BACARDI Emerging Leader Major Entrance Bursary. Established in 2007 by Bacardi & Company Limited, administered by the Office of Financial Aid & Housing, in support of a student with demonstrated financial need entering a full time undergraduate degree program in Accounting in the School of Business or in the Natural Sciences, Mathematics or Technology in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences. Estimated value: $3,000.00, renewable.

The BICA Scholarship of Excellence. Established in 2007, by Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants, in support of Bahamian students at The College of The Bahamas. Awarded by the Office of Financial Aid & Housing and the School of Business to a student with highest academic achievement and demonstrated financial need enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of a full time undergraduate degree programme in Accounting. Estimated Value: $1,500.00, non-renewable.

The BICA Book Award. Established in 2007, by Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants, in support of Bahamian students at The College of The Bahamas. Awarded by the Office of Financial Aid & Housing to a student with demonstrated financial need enrolled in a full time undergraduate degree programme in Accounting. Estimated values, $500.00, non-renewable.

The Santander Bahamas Spanish Language Fund. Established in 2007, by Santander Bank & Trust Ltd. in support of Spanish language study abroad opportunities for students at The College of The Bahamas. Awarded by the International Relations Liaison, to students who have attained Spanish 200 level or higher to participate in a study abroad or student exchange experience in a Spanish speaking country. Interested students who are eligible must fill out a standard study abroad application form to qualify for and be selected to participate in this experience. Estimated value: $3,000, non-renewable.

The Bahamas Dental Association Book Award Given in Memory of Dr. Hal Leyland and Dr. Cleveland Eneas, Sr. Established in 2008 by The Bahamas Dental Association, in support of Bahamian students at The College of The Bahamas. Awarded by the Office of Financial Aid & Housing to a student with demonstrated financial need enrolled in a full time undergraduate degree programme in the natural sciences. Estimated Value: $1,000.00, non-renewable.
